They asking why we didn't do the same thing. He stated that there was a big difference. Apparently they have a huge jail with lots of "clients" with extended reservations. We on the other hand have a small local facility that caters to the short term visitors most of whom are simply awaiting trial. Apparently according to state and federal law there is a big difference in how you have to treat folks who have not yet been convicted of anything. Tis a shame. A tent city is a lot cheaper to build and maintain than a big old cement and steel one.
