| Posted by Chuck,on March 30th,2009 Reprinted Article By Charlie Reese Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. Have you ever wondered,if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits,WHY do we have deficits? Have you ever wondered,if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes,WHY do we have inflation and high taxes? You and I don’t propose a federal budget The president does. You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of representatives does. You and I don’t write the tax code,Congress does. You and I don’t set fiscal policy,Congress does. You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does. One hundred senators,435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country. I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913,Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank. I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator,a congressman,or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises,it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes. Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it,they can pass it over his veto if they agree to. It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted —by present facts —of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist. - If the tax code is unfair,it’s because they want it unfair.
- If the budget is in the red,it’s because they want it in the red ..
- If the Army &Marines are in IRAQ ,it’s because they want them in IRAQ
- If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people,it’s because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish;to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject;to regulators,to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all,do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,”“inflation,”or “politics”that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do. Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power. They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses. Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees. We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper. What you do with this article now that you have read it………. is up to you Posted by Buckrub,on March 27th,2009 As posted on another site, reproduced here by request: I feel like America is the proverbial frog in the pan of cold water on the stove. It’s turned on and heating, and will soon boil, but we won’t feel a thing when done that way,so we’ll sit and boil and fry and die,and we’ll do it quietly. We should be talking about overthrow, impeachment, secession, coups,SOMETHING SERIOUS!!! But we won’t. We’ll just search the internet for .22 bullets, mostly in vain, and practically give up trying to buy a subcompact .380 pistol (never mind the ammo!!) for our CCW license (which will probably be illegal soon)…………tasks I did yesterday. Then we’ll get on the internet hunting chat sites and pregnant dog and moan and gripe, like I’m doing now. Many of us will write our Legiscritters, like I did,and get a form letter back that basically says that they are right,I am wrong, and to hush. Then we can surf over to our 401K site and find out whether it’s become a 201K or a 101K today. We can get on the phone and talk to a co-worker who, like us,made it through last week’s layoffs, probably by the skin of our teeth. Finally we can get a cup of coffee and go sit on the front porch and contemplate how we’ve played the game fairly for 3-Score years and when the finish line is in site, the entire game and venue and rules changed. I would say “I don’t know how we got here”but I do. It’s all backlash against the last guy we had. Folks would have voted for Genghis Khan if he was in the ‘other party’this time. We can spin our wheels defending him (as I have done repeatedly) but it’s just simple truth. Perception trumps reality, always. And W was such a poor rep of ‘our side’that he inadvertently led the revolt against us all. What we got was not a middle-of-road opponent, but the single most liberal member of the U.S. Senate in HISTORY. He won’t change his spots as President. And since we don’t have the Parliamentary system,we’re stuck with him. Worse, the idiots that have been behind the scenes, sort of,in Congress for all these years are now a member of the “Ruling Class”and are flaunting both their ignorance and arrogance at every turn. Even worse, there appears to be no valid representative of “our side”that will be a good Champion of what is right. Most of them are just as bad,in other ways. This leads me to believe that BOTH sides suck big donkey knobs and I’m quite frankly fed up with the whole lot of ‘em,and the entire system. Not one person within 100 miles of Washington,DC,goes through the day doing things even remotely like I’d want them done. Not once. And I’m not going to watch the News report on it all,nor am I going to listen to some nannyhead blabber at what he calls a “Press Conference”but which is really a lovefest worship session. I’m going to get in the closet and get my Ostrich suit. And this is just the first 70 days.

On December 16th 1773 colonists disguised as Indians boarded British ships in the port of Boston and siezed the cargo of tea and tossed it into the sea. This was in opposition to the “Tea Tax”which had been imposed on the colonists by the British Parliament. They had no representation in parliament and demanded it was unfair they should be taxed without representation. This great “Boston Tea Party”led directly to the war for independence that started only a little over three years later. Today we are in similar situations in this country. Our elected “representatives”of both parties have been ignoring the people for years and spending public money like drunken sailors. They have now become so irresponsible even China, who has been buying America’s debt for years is beginning to say,“No more!” The latest in these violations was their voting for a $500 BILLION (Thats $500,000,000,000 Dorothy) bill WITHOUT EVEN READING IT!!!! Now they are printing money like crazy to cover these expenditures. That’s new unbacked dollars that will make inflation soar, perhaps the cruelest tax of all. People are now beginning to say,“I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to stand for it anymore.” Trillions of dollars have been spent or squandered on “bailouts”and phony “stimulus”bills that favor bankers and political buddies. This is making huge numbers of Americans very upset at the wholesale mortgaging of the future for them and their children. At latest count the expenditures of the last six months alone have created an indebtedness of about $30,000 for every household in America. If you add interest and inflation to that debt it pushes it to well in excess of $100,000 per household over the next 10 years. Around the country people are having protests and calling them “Tea Parties”. Attendance has been increasing with many having thousands of “party goers”attending. These protests are not aimed at one political party because both political parties have been guilty of the same thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0M0ZOMXPzQ0 http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,510579,00.html http://taxdayteaparty.com/ http://www.pjtv.com/video/American_Tea_Party/Glenn_Reynolds%3A_The_Tax_Day_Tea_Parties_Coming!/1596/ The TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Parties have gained momentum and there is now a huge rally planned for Tax Day (April 15th) in cities all over the country. There was one such day back in February when there were parties in forty cities. The Tax Day Tea Party is expected to have protests in over 300 cities nationwide and well may become the largest multi-city protest in American history. Www.teapartyday.com asks the questions: “Are you fed up with a Congress and a president who: - vote for a $500 billion tax bill without even reading it?
- are spending trillions of borrowed dollars, leaving a debt our great-grandchildren will be paying?
- consistently give special interest groups billions of dollars in earmarks to help get themselves re-elected?
- want to take your wealth and redistribute it to others?
- punish those who practice responsible financial behavior and reward those who do not?
- admit to using the financial hurt of millions as an opportunity to push their political agenda?
- run up trillions of dollars of debt and then sell that debt to countries such as China?
- want government controlled health care?
- want to take away the right to vote with a secret ballot in union elections?
- refuse to stop the flow of millions of illegal immigrants into our country?
- appoint a defender of child pornography to the Number 2 position in the Justice Department?
- want to force doctors and other medical workers to perform abortions against their will?
- want to impose a carbon tax on your electricity, gas and home heating fuels?
- want to reduce your tax deductibility for charitable gifts?
- take money from your family budget to pay for their federal budget?
If so,participate in the TEA party rally, the Taxed Enough Already (TEA) party.” Many are deciding to “go out for tea”on tax day. I suspect I will because I’m TEA’d. How about you? Perhaps this could be our theme song: http://susie1114.com/10percentisgoodenough.html
Posted by Chuck,on March 16th,2009 There is no doubt that Barack Obama is a very charismatic speaker. He talks a good game, but what about the substance of his messages? Here is a link to one of his campaign speeches. In under two minutes he made six sincere sounding promises, and in less that two months of his administration he has already broken every single one. Promises, promises, promises - broken, broken, broken –lies, lies, lies, and he ain’t alone in Washington!! Don’t believe this based on what I say, here’s the link,go there and look for yourself. Obama’s Promises This administration has already shown it offers nothing more than smoke and mirrors, and the American people are suffering the results. Six specific promises given here in this one speech, every single one a broken promise or an outright lie. Here is the count: - “I will also institute an absolute ban so that no registered lobbyists can curry influence on my administration based on how much they can spend on a fancy dinner.” Fact: several of his top appointments in his administration are those same lobbyists and ex-lobbyists. Several of these withdrew their names for top spots because it was shown they were tax cheats as well.
- “I’ll make our government open and transparent.” Fact: the “Stimulus Bill” was passed without even one congressman or senator having the opportunity to read it in its entirety, much less the public. This 1000 plus page document was released after 2:00 a.m. Washing time and voted on first thing in the morning.
- “I’ll make it impossible for congressmen or lobbyist to sneak porkbarrel projects or corporate welfare into laws when nobody’s looking. . .” Fact: that same “Stimulus Bill” alone contains over 8000 such porkbarrel projects that he encouraged and willingly signed.
- “When theres a bill that ends up on my desk as president, you the public will have five days to look on line and find out what’s in it before I sign it.” Another promise broken in the “Stimulus Bill” and the “Omnibus Spending Bill” The contents of both hidden from the public view until the last minute.
- “When there are meetings between lobbyists and a government agency,we will put as many of those meetings as possible on line for every American to watch.” Nothing yet two months down. Come on now it ain’t that hard to put stuff on the internet!
- “When there is a tax bill being debated in congress you will know the names of the corporations that will benefit and how much money they would get and we will put every corporate tax break and every pork barrel project on line for every American to see and you will know who asked for them and you will know if your representative is actually representing you.” Another promise broken in both major spending bills passed in under two months of his administration. The largest spending packages in history!
We Americans have been too lazy to do the footwork to hold our politicians to task for their broken promises and downright lies. We want to believe that although it is obvious the system is broken that “our politician” or “our representative” or “our candidate” is one of the good guys. Washington is not full of “good guys”. Good guys do exist, but they are in the minority. If you want to know who they are look at who voted for the bills listed above. If their vote is in they “Yea” column, they’re representing somebody’s interest, but it sure ain’t yours! You can’t hear what the truly “good guys” in Washing are saying. They are regularly being drowned out by the noise of a bunch of pigs feeding at the public tax trough. Wake up Dorothy, you’re not in Kansas anymore! America is being played as a fool and it’s going to get worse unless we get off our fat lazy behinds and start contacting representatives telling them we are not going to sit by while they steal us blind! This is a big money Washington power grab, nothing less. Get involved or get ready say “goodby” to the freedoms we have enjoyed in this country for the last 200+ years. Posted by Chuck,on March 11th,2009 This week (March 11th) the “Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA)”was introduced into both the House and the Senate. The name is an Orwellian term for a bill whose purpose is to strip workers of the right to a secret ballot to decide on whether to form a union.
Under this legislation union bosses could pass out cards to workers and intimidate them into signing by requiring them to publicly fill out a card with no right to a secret or private ballot. This places workers into the position of receiving peer pressure, ridicule, intimidation,or outright physical threats to force them to sign the cards. If they can pressure 50% plus one of the workers to sign the cards it would force a union on the workers without giving them having the right of a private ballot. This removes the seventy year old rights of workers to have a private ballot to decide such issues. Businesses, economists the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the vast majority of members of the American public oppose this. Recent polls have shown that a vast majority of Americans of all political backgrounds oppose this type of legislation, but unless we contact our representatives and senators it is going to be forced on us. The poll conducted by “The Polling Company Inc”conducted in March of last year asked 1000 people if they agreed with the statement,“Every worker should continue to have the right to a federally supervised secret ballot election when deciding whether to organize a union.” The results indicated agreement by 82% of Democrats,77% of Republicans, and 79% of Independents. More recent surveys have shown even slightly higher opposition to this proposal among the American public. When you consider that most elections in this country are decided by a majority of 55% or less, having nearly 80% united in opposition to something is an amazing majority!
Under the “Card Check”system, union organizers would be able to go into any small business, construction work site,or hospital and pressure workers into signing cards. They can continue harassing these people until they accumulate 50% plus one cards and the workers are at that point forced into a union. Then if the union and the management are unable to agree on a contract within a set period of time, the federal government will step in and impose one upon them. This coerced unionization is just a new form of enforced taxation on the workers. Workers will lose a portion of their wages to union bosses who can then use it as they see fit. This includes political donations to parties and candidates that the workers oppose. This is an amazing violation of individual rights. No vote,no secret ballot,no right to freely negotiate an acceptable contract and they have the nerve to call it the “Employee Free Choice Act”. A more appropriate name might be the “Employee Forced Choice Act”or perhaps even the “Employee No Choice Act”! Even Warren Buffet,an Obama supporter opposes it and has gone on record in a recent CNBC interview saying “I think the secret ballot’s pretty important in the country. I’m against card check to make a perfectly flat statement.” (Link toVideo) In addition to the loss of worker rights comes a very possible of loss of jobs. According to an economist at the University of Chicago,Dr. Anne Layne-Farrar for every three workers coerced into joining a union under Card Check, one job will be eliminated. That means that about 600,000 jobs could be lost due to Card Check is just the first year. To view Dr. Layne-Farrar’s full report visit http://ssrn.com/abstract=1353305. We do not need an increase in unemployment at this time of recession and we certainly do not need to force more jobs overseas. Why would there be a push to take away the rights of workers? Very simple. Promises made to union bosses in exchange for their support in the recent elections. VP Joe Biden said it very effectively in a meeting with AFL-CIO leadership last week. He stated, “You all brought me to the dance a long time ago,and it’s time we start dancing.” This is nothing more or less than political pay back without any regard to the will of the people who have consistently opposed such propositions. More information is available at Saul Anuzis’website. Saul is a former teamster and a former Michigan Republican Chairman. He is currently leading the opposition to this bill for American Solutions. Contact your U.S. senator and representative and tell them what you think of the card check proposal and what it will mean to the American worker and the American economy. Please do not delay as these bills are currently being debated in the house and the senate. | |
